The mop heats up quickly and does a very nice job of getting the floor clean. I have a black lab that sheds a lot and even though I vacuum first the micro fiber pads still pick up more dog hair. The pads are very easy to clean and don’t get sour smelling like a sponge mop. I have used it on my kitchen floor that is in good shape but probably at least 30 years old and on my painted basement floor, it did a great job both places. – Amazon Fan Vicki

The Black & Decker SM1620 Steam Mop is an extremely smart floor steamer with all the bells and whistles. You just turn the dial on what type of floor you are cleaning and it is set to provide the best clean for that floor type. We like that the steam automatically stops when the handle is upright, so you don’t need to constantly push the power button on and off. The hands-free pad removal is also a great feature because you don’t have to contaminate your hands with the dirty pads, just step on the pad tab and it is easily removed.
